01.06.2017. First time collaborating with #SGchildren‘s home, #SalvationArmy Gracehaven to conduct eye screening for children age of 9-16yo.
#Myopia has been growing rapidly over the last 25 years and is expected to impair fully 50% of the world’s population by the year 2020. Since the number of children that are having myopia are on a rapid increase, even children with such special care should not be neglected.
Nearly 40 children were tested to rule out uncorrected refractive errors. 20 pairs of prescriptive eye glasses were prescribed. Out of the 40 children, 10% of the children were found with #binocularabnormalities: #strabismus with latent phoria, insufficient near point of convergence and #amblyopia.
I would like to thank all eye care colleagues and partners who helped to arrange the eye equipments and ophthalmic prescriptive lenses, releasing optometric staff just to complete this meaningful eye care event. Thank you for your tireless efforts!
